For Cartago, we select the grapes from a small crest of a hill at the highest point, at an altitude of 700 metres. \u003cbr\u003eVintage\u003cbr\u003eA rainy cycle with rainfall well distributed throughout the year. Budbreak was rapid and full after a mild winter. May started with thunderstorms and continued with mild temperatures that allowed early flowering and an excellent fruit set. After a hot July, the thermal contrasts between maximum and minimum temperatures increased, which favoured calm ripening until the start of the harvest at the end of August.\u003cbr\u003eViticulture\u003cbr\u003eOn very sandy soils with clay at about 50 cm and vines planted on ungrafted rootstock, in a traditional 3x3 frame. Average yields are 2,500 kg per hectare. \u003cbr\u003eWinemaking\u003cbr\u003eThe El Pozo grapes were harvested on 10 September with an initial manual selection in the vineyard.
