    This soft, approachable ruby-hued beauty is a true testament to vines lovingly reared and winemaking raised to an art form. A Right Bank-style Bordeaux blend, De Toren Z comprises a symphonic blend of five Bordeaux varietals. You’ll find it tantalizingly soft on the tongue, with a hint of aniseed, licorice, raspberry and cranberries lending a fresh acidity to its polished finish… plus, of course, all the finesse that makes Bordeaux-style wines so prized among the world’s most enthusiastic wine lovers.

    This wine is a very versatile food pairing wine due to its great acidity and weight. It works exceptionally well with very fine spicy foods. Its aromas of mulberries and blueberries perfectly complements rich fish, lamb, duck, beef and poultry.

    Blend: 47% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc, 19% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Malbec, 7% Petit Verdot

    De Toren is Dutch for “The Tower,” and the estate is named after a tower that stands high above the cellar. Owners Emil and Sonette den Dulk, together with winemaker Albie Koch, created South Africa’s first five-varietal Bordeaux blend, Fusion V. The farm uses the latest technology for vineyard management and to help determine harvest times. However, actual harvesting and production are done almost entirely by hand, in keeping with Emil’s aim for selection excellence and Albie’s insistence on natural winemaking. Their passion has created wines to be treasured.

    Merlot dominant Bordeaux blend displays aromas of red fruits, mulberries and blueberries, with notes of cedar and spice and a hint of aniseed. This follows through perfectly on the palate, revealing pure juicy red fruit, berries and plum. Complex and vibrant, this expressive red showcases velvety, finely knit tannins...just as one would expect from a Merlot-led blend!

    Title to, and Ownership of Alcoholic Beverages

    Title to, and ownership of, all alcoholic beverages passes from a Licensee to the purchaser at the licensed retail premises or warehouse and state it is purchased in and the purchaser takes all responsibility for shipping it from the licensed retail premises or warehouse to his/her home state. By arranging for transportation of the alcoholic beverages, the retailer is providing a service to and acting on behalf of the purchaser. By utilizing this service, the purchaser is representing that he/she is acting in a fashion compliant with his/her local and state laws regarding the purchase, transportation, and delivery of alcoholic beverages. The purchaser represents that he/she has obtained any required permission, paid any required fees, is working through properly licensed intermediaries where required, is legally entitled to take possession of alcoholic beverages, and is legally entitled to take quantities ordered and once again authorizes that he/she is 21 years of age.

    We cannot ship wine/sake to the following states: AL, DE, KS, KY, MI, MS, ND, NH, NJ, NV, PA, SD, TN, UT, VA, VT.

    Flat Rate shipping for $35 for all purchases under $500. For any order over $500, we offer free shipping.

    International Shipping

    Generally, we do not ship internationally, as some countries have restrictions on wine/sake shipping. Please send an email to elizabeth@inthecru.com before purchasing. In all cases, local taxes and shipping will be paid by the purchaser.

    Signature Policy

    For successful delivery of your wine or sake on the initial try, we highly advise selecting an address where an individual aged at least 21 is present to sign for the package. Legally, wine cannot be left without such a signature. Unfortunately, we are unable to refund shipping fees for packages returned due to the absence of an adult for signing. Shipments cannot be sent to APOs, FPOs, or P.O. boxes. Additionally, deliveries will not be made to individuals deemed intoxicated by the driver.
