Notes from the Winemaker

100% Tempranillo. Vineyards of more than 1,000m. altitude, the highest in all of Europe.

HIGH ALTITUDE ESTATES 
This is our freshest, original and modern wine. Made from high altitude vineyards which have been selected due to their freshness, floral profile and silky tannins. 


VINEYARD 
Selected plots of Tempranillo vines located at the plateaus of Manzanillo, Fuentenebro and Torre de Peñafiel, one of the highest points of the Ribera del Duero region, with an altitude of above 900 meters. Warm days and chilly nights boost the distinguishing aromatic qualities of the grape. With yields always lower than 4500 kg / ha. Optimum ripeness and exceptional balance are always achieved. 


WINEMAKING 
Plots are harvested at the optimum moment, after a strict analytical and tasting 
control on-site, in the moment when grapes express their best qualities. Manual 
harvest, using boxes of 15 kgs and bunch selection once they arrive at the winery. 
Grapes are not pressed and the wine is made following gravity, with OVI tanks, so the 
use of aggressive pumping is totally avoided. Total maceration time is around 20 days. 

AGEING 
12 months in 500L. 100% French oak barrels, racked every 3 months. 


VINTAGE 
Dry autumn, with moderated temperatures. Finally, a heavy snowfall took place 
during January (storm Filomena) and that snow resulted in great water reserves in soils. 
Spring was warm and lightly dry, so vines sprouted earlier. During April, rainfalls did not 
cause any mildew diseases. Later on that year, we had fresh temperatures, lower than 
the average, so vines did not have too high hydric stress and polyphenols ripe at the 
right pace. Harvest started in Fuentenebro with Albillo Mayor grapes and finished in 
Tubilla del Lago with some ancient vineyards at high altitudes. From our perspective, 
2021 is a brilliant vintage, with fresh, light and precise wines, with a harmonious and 
spectacular elegance.

Title to, and Ownership of Alcoholic Beverages

Title to, and ownership of, all alcoholic beverages passes from a Licensee to the purchaser at the licensed retail premises or warehouse and state it is purchased in and the purchaser takes all responsibility for shipping it from the licensed retail premises or warehouse to his/her home state. By arranging for transportation of the alcoholic beverages, the retailer is providing a service to and acting on behalf of the purchaser. By utilizing this service, the purchaser is representing that he/she is acting in a fashion compliant with his/her local and state laws regarding the purchase, transportation, and delivery of alcoholic beverages. The purchaser represents that he/she has obtained any required permission, paid any required fees, is working through properly licensed intermediaries where required, is legally entitled to take possession of alcoholic beverages, and is legally entitled to take quantities ordered and once again authorizes that he/she is 21 years of age.

We may ship wine or sake, on your behalf, to some States in the Continental US. Please send an email to elizabeth@inthecru.com if shipping to Alaska or Hawaii.

We cannot ship wine/sake to the following states: AL, DE, KS, KY, MI, MS, ND, NH, NJ, NV, PA, SD, TN, UT, VA, VT.

Flat Rate shipping for $35 for all purchases under $500. For any order over $500, we offer free shipping.

International Shipping

Generally, we do not ship internationally, as some countries have restrictions on wine/sake shipping. Please send an email to elizabeth@inthecru.com before purchasing. In all cases, local taxes and shipping will be paid by the purchaser.

Signature Policy

For successful delivery of your wine or sake on the initial try, we highly advise selecting an address where an individual aged at least 21 is present to sign for the package. Legally, wine cannot be left without such a signature. Unfortunately, we are unable to refund shipping fees for packages returned due to the absence of an adult for signing. Shipments cannot be sent to APOs, FPOs, or P.O. boxes. Additionally, deliveries will not be made to individuals deemed intoxicated by the driver.
