- Style: A Bordeaux-style blend led by Cabernet Franc
- Blend: 39% Cabernet Franc, 20% Malbec, 19% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot
- Region: Polkadraai Hills, Stellenbosch. The vines grow on decomposed dolomite and granite on south-facing slopes, cooled by air off the nearby ocean.
- Winemaking: Hand-sorted three times, then a five-day cold soak on the skins. Fermented at 28°C, basket-pressed, with malolactic fermentation in steel. Aged 16 months in tight-grain French oak, all used barrels and none new.
- Alcohol: 14%
- Tasting notes: An intense nose of blackberry, black cherry and bramble, with forest floor, dark chocolate, aniseed and spicy tobacco. The palate is velvety and fine-grained, with blue and black fruit. The finish brings mint, cinnamon and a floral lift.
- Aging: 8–10 years
- Food pairings: Venison, dry-aged sirloin or rib-eye, hard cheeses
Interesting facts
- The name: It honors Bruwer Raats’ late father, Jasper, one of the winery’s founders, who was its viticulturist for nine years.
- Raats helped get the Polkadraai Hills recognized as an official Stellenbosch ward in 2007.
- It’s a step up from the Dolomite: a fuller blend that ages longer but keeps the estate’s Cabernet Franc character.

Title to, and Ownership of Alcoholic Beverages
Title to, and ownership of, all alcoholic beverages passes from a Licensee to the purchaser at the licensed retail premises or warehouse and state it is purchased in and the purchaser takes all responsibility for shipping it from the licensed retail premises or warehouse to his/her home state. By arranging for transportation of the alcoholic beverages, the retailer is providing a service to and acting on behalf of the purchaser. By utilizing this service, the purchaser is representing that he/she is acting in a fashion compliant with his/her local and state laws regarding the purchase, transportation, and delivery of alcoholic beverages. The purchaser represents that he/she has obtained any required permission, paid any required fees, is working through properly licensed intermediaries where required, is legally entitled to take possession of alcoholic beverages, and is legally entitled to take quantities ordered and once again authorizes that he/she is 21 years of age.

International Shipping
Generally, we do not ship internationally, as some countries have restrictions on wine/sake shipping. Please send an email to elizabeth@inthecru.com before purchasing. In all cases, local taxes and shipping will be paid by the purchaser.
Signature Policy
For successful delivery of your wine or sake on the initial try, we highly advise selecting an address where an individual aged at least 21 is present to sign for the package. Legally, wine cannot be left without such a signature. Unfortunately, we are unable to refund shipping fees for packages returned due to the absence of an adult for signing. Shipments cannot be sent to APOs, FPOs, or P.O. boxes. Additionally, deliveries will not be made to individuals deemed intoxicated by the driver.
