A sophisticated Spanish Cabernet with a distinctly Bordeaux-inspired personality, Vinya Le Havre comes from one of Jean Leon’s historic single vineyards in Penedès. The 12-hectare estate was planted in 1968 and has been farmed organically since 2008, producing a limited-production wine with impressive depth, structure and elegance.

The 2021 vintage shows an enticing combination of ripe black and red fruit, blackberry, plum and cassis, layered with black pepper, sweet spice, cocoa, tobacco and beautifully integrated oak. On the palate, it is full-bodied and powerful but polished, with a lush, silky texture, mature tannins and a long, persistent finish.

The wine is aged for at least 12 months in French and American oak barrels, followed by a minimum of two years of bottle aging before release. The result is a Cabernet that has the concentration to accompany substantial food while retaining the elegance and freshness expected from a carefully farmed single-vineyard wine.

The Story Behind the Name:
Vinya Le Havre pays tribute to one of the most important moments in Jean Leon’s extraordinary life. As a young man, Jean Leon traveled to the United States as a stowaway from the French port of Le Havre. A sailor discovered him but chose to help him remain hidden—a chance encounter that ultimately changed the course of his life.

International Shipping

Generally, we do not ship internationally, as some countries have restrictions on wine/sake shipping. Please send an email to elizabeth@inthecru.com before purchasing. In all cases, local taxes and shipping will be paid by the purchaser.

Signature Policy

For successful delivery of your wine or sake on the initial try, we highly advise selecting an address where an individual aged at least 21 is present to sign for the package. Legally, wine cannot be left without such a signature. Unfortunately, we are unable to refund shipping fees for packages returned due to the absence of an adult for signing. Shipments cannot be sent to APOs, FPOs, or P.O. boxes. Additionally, deliveries will not be made to individuals deemed intoxicated by the driver.
